Apr 18, 2012 - I agree with you 100%!! Today's music stinks! Thank goodness there's so much of the real stuff around, like this one and thousands more, for all of us who don't like settling. When you settle, you lose a part of yourself. You are correct about no soul in the music anymore. Hip Hop stinks! Rap stinks! Pop today stinks! No apologies.
Jan 20, 2012 - This is the version that should have been the hit. And the guitar solo shows how good Glen really was in his prime. Wish the director had shown us more of him playing that. Thank you for posting this video.
Oct 13, 2011 - I think it is appropriate that Jimmy Webb has returned to his Christian faith. I've never been sure that there is a God, but if there is, Jimmy Webb was so blessed with such enormous talent, that it is only appropriate that he should be thankful. When I think of the life he has had, the music he has written and the untold hours of joy his music has brought to so many millions of us, it just stuns me. Thank you Jimmy and thank you Glen, and God bless both of you. (Just covering my bases here.)
Sep 17, 2011 - Amen to melody!!! Recording technology has never been so good as it is today but the level of crap coming out today has never been so low. A serious imbalance propelled by today's pop-culture dribble. I can only hope the pendulum will swing the other way one day and popular music will again have some artistic merit and substance.
Aug 20, 2011 - A classic that I love. Hope he does this one on his "Good Bye Tour" when they come to Philadelphia, PA on September 15th. Google Perelamn Quadrangle for more information.
Jul 26, 2011 - I'll post here with yours. Yes, indeed deb, the man is timeless. Such a soulful voice and the guitar technique is fantastic. I hear that Glenn is not well these days. God bless the man, he has provided a great body of work and was a major star. By the time I get to Phoenix, Witchita Lineman, the best!
Jul 15, 2011 - If you read my comment properly you would have seen that I did not say that ALL music today was terrible. I also never said that ALL hip hop, or ALL rap was bad. I was talking about SOULLESS music and so-called POPULAR music. There are lots of good songs and artists out there at the moment, it is just that the music industry does not promote them very well. Btw, if somebody has a different opinion to you doesn't mean you should insult them. Attack the argument not the person.
Jul 15, 2011 - For crimineys sake. Todays music is just as valid. This song is great, for sure, but this comment just displays a complete close mindedness that I'm so tired of seeing on videos of cool songs. If you don't like it that's cool but don't go dribbling shit out the corner of your mouth because you can't be bothered to turn off the fucking radio. I'm going to listen to some Kanye West now just to spite you.
Jul 10, 2011 - Jimmy Webb wrote Macarthur Park I watched this Glen Campbell special years ago a truly magical moment in t.v. I was a seventies teen. Loved Richard Harris on the hit but yes Glen takes this to another level. His voice was and always will be timeless
Jun 1, 2011 - It is Jimmy Webb conducting, he also plays piano on other songs in this concert which was recorded at the Royal Festival Hall in London, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. I have the concert on video, and it is brilliant. This has to be one of the best live versions of Macarthur Park, and it's easy to see why Glen Campbell is considered the definitive interpreter of Jimmy Webb's fabulous songs.
