Mar 4, 2011 - You either love it, or you feel like its okay, you can live without it. Modern jazz. But if modern jazz itself has a mainstream(Davis or Coleman), this kind of music you'd have to call "fringe". The only way to qualify a statement like classic-influenced is by that you play or knowing McCandless' background in classical and his WH music. The cherry on top is the superb recording of this.

Sep 9, 2010 - Oregon's Vanguard releases are audiophile recordings. Though I like all of Oregon's music, those Vanguard recordings are truly fine. As much as people herald the vinyl as being superior to CD, The Vanguard remasters I think would give any vinyl records a run for the money. All things considered, that is. The Vanguard recordings are, as far as I can say, musical creations that are completely acoustic, musically.

Sep 6, 2008 - This duo still doesn't have a solo album out. I have seen them countless times over the past 30 odd years. Always wonderful and often in settings with other players, the duo is still amazing and deserves a listen! One of the finest chamber jazz duos on the planet.
