May 21, 2012 - Always give the homeless guy near marlyebone station a sandwich this song reminds me of him.
Shelsight Says:
May 20, 2012 - Couldn't agree more... It's as uplifting as it is sad, because it teaches us to be thankful for what we've got, and to help those who've somehow fallen by the wayside...
Shelsight Says:
May 20, 2012 - USA is a country - not a nationality. Maybe you could use the internet to find out the difference between the two...
Shelsight Says:
May 20, 2012 - Well, I guess you don't really care about displaced & homeless civilians and soldiers as much as you made out, huh? People tend use the internet for 2 main things: 1) To educate themselves about issues that matter to them or to the world, or 2) To 'troll' and write ignorant, toxic comments that offend most decent people. Pretty clear which you are. I'm sure your son is proud of a 38 year old Dad who calls someone a 'fucktard' because they care about homelessness...

May 20, 2012 - i don't care what people think about this song, to me this song is about seeing the brighter side of things in your life. i like to listen to this song when i'm sad to remind myself that people out there are far worse. beautiful song!
cullinane8888 Says:
May 20, 2012 - and your profile says age 40 usa
cullinane8888 Says:
May 20, 2012 - you a fucktard go jump in a lake with your misery lolol
iloveyouhamburgers Says:
May 20, 2012 - This really touches everybody that listens to it. I think that this is a beautiful melancholic love song. But that's my opinion, and no one in the streets of London cares about it.
Shelsight Says:
May 20, 2012 - I am British. And I marched vs the war in Iraq & despised everything it stood for. What the hell does your stupid rant have to do with your thoughtless comment mocking McTell's song? That song has made 2-3 generations of people understand more about the plight of people dying through homelessness or poverty. Ironically one of them was a man called Mark Mullins - an ex-British soldier. Given you supposedly care about soldiers, why don't you Google him & his wife Helen? Then you might get it...

May 20, 2012 - Capolavoro assoluto di Ralph Mc Tell: get's never old !!
cullinane8888 Says:
May 20, 2012 - fucken yank did you realise your republic losses more soilders through suicide than war besides the fact that 2600000 iraq civilians where murdered for no reason weapons of mass destruction get a life you fool your fucken republic started the economic collapse
Shelsight Says:
May 20, 2012 - Have you actually listened to the words and ever given any thought to the fact that people genuinely live like this..? And in this economic climate, it doesn't take too long to fall that far - even for hardworking people. 'Ignorant, thoughtless sh*t' is a more appropriate phrase for you than your description of this beautiful song.
KITCHENOFDISTINCTION Says:
May 16, 2012 - Shallow shit
AmosNoLandsMan Says:
May 16, 2012 - Damn it! I liked before it started switching between versions of the song. Why would you do that? It was grand as it was.
alanross1945 Says:
May 14, 2012 - Hi attitudes like yours could lead to war - so perhaps you ought to think about that?
StumptownBoy Says:
May 4, 2012 - I've only recently become aware of Mr. McTell, and I must say, I much prefer the more recent, elder man. His voice has matured wonderfully as demonstrated in the different time periods covered in this video, and he seems like a wonderful, down-to-earth chap.
Thecabbageful Says:
Apr 28, 2012 - only heard this first time on radio 2 the other day, but it feels like ive known it for years.
MrBulldogtools Says:
Apr 26, 2012 - kiss my arse for me you anally retentive twat, and I would cordially refer you to going and fucking yourself.i,m sure you,d love it immensely.Wanker of the highest order.
terrortorn Says:
Apr 19, 2012 - Seeing as you are doubled up, kiss your own arse rather than everyone else's, in an attempt to make your self righteous attitude socially palatable. I refer you to top comment number 3.
MrBulldogtools Says:
Apr 19, 2012 - Enlightened man that you are, look up our old friend mr"Terrortorn" on this page,he waxes lyrical on this subject, has a dictionary in his back pocket too.He feels somewhat aggrieved to have had to sing this in school, berates "hippies" for some reason,(he had a bad experience with one possibly?).Great song in every way,I like Ralph Mctell songs a lot.
MrBulldogtools Says:
Apr 19, 2012 - Your sparkling wit and riposte has me doubled up,you truly have missed some kind of calling.A cure for constipation is one that springs to mind.
OFreddieBoy Says:
Apr 19, 2012 - A genuinely beautiful song. We used to sing this at primary school - and of course I never understood what the lyrics were about when I was 5. But growing up with it really does push it into your conscience.
terrortorn Says:
Apr 18, 2012 - "Doesn't" has the apostrophe after the n and "puts" has no apostrophe. Clearly you can't spell is there any other way in which you can prove my point? Notice no full stop after the question mark.
