May 26, 2012 - Definitely one of the great singers with his popular songs back in the late '60's. Sorry he now has Alzheimers. Definitely takes one back to those days when we Boomers were still pre-teens or high school age.

May 22, 2012 - Every single thing about this song is pitch-perfect. The genius of Jimmy Webb's songwriting, the arrangement and Glen's vocal interpretation. Mighty fine. Mighty fine.

May 21, 2012 - Sitting crosslegged with my younger brother on shag carpet watching a tv with an antenna atop. My now deceased parents watching with us sitting on the sofa behind us. What memories. Great song. What has happened to the time?

May 20, 2012 - it also contains one the most impossible notes i've ever heard a male singer do. Glen was so talented compared to the so callled artists of today. BTW time has no boundaries.

May 12, 2012 - If I understand what you're saying, you're correct, it was done this way for many television performances... although your explanation is slightly confusing. I assume you meant that the rehearsal was recorded strictly for sound, then the singer merely lipsynched the vocal for his appearance in front of the live audience. Also, this was 1968, and large, powerful, stacked amps were widely available... and as far as I know, electric guitars are still connected with cables to this day.

May 5, 2012 - This is a PERFECT 1960's Pop song. The songwriting, the performance, the production. In regards to 1960's Pop music, it doesn't get any better than this. (Love the Baritone guitar solo...)
littlemikey1954 Says:
May 5, 2012 - Another common practice was tape the performance during rehearsal. And lipsinque to the live tape. It was easier and less risky than doing the sound checks (to an empty auditorium) and watching the live performance go horribly wrong because of the different accoustics of the auditorium when it's packed with people. Back then, amps were smaller and electric guitars were hooked by cables that could go bad if the cable got stepped on or pulled during anact.
