How to adjust hydraulic lifters or valves with the engine running
Adjusting the hydraulic lifters on the boat with the engine running and after the engine is warmed up. Some people might argue to go 1/8 or 1/2 turn more after chatter stops from tightening. Other people may argue that this is a bad method of adjusting lifters, to each his own.

there are many ways to adjust valve lash. this is just one example and has worked well for me. you can do it any way you want just make sure the lifter is on the heel of the cam and between a half to one turn of preload
